SCHOLARSHIPS

SCHOLARSHIPS BEING AWARDED BY EDUCATION BOARD

GENERAL CONDITIONS.

  • The Board shall award annually, scholarships to be known as Board scholarships on the basis of result of various examinations.
  • The Board shall determine from time to time, the examinations for which scholarships have to be awarded , their number and period of their tenure.
  • The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the result of main examinations annually , keeping in view the position of a scholar in the merit list prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the concerned examination.
  • If a scholarship holder ceases to be eligible for the scholarship ,it shall lapse to the Board.
  • The decision of the Chairman shall be final in all matters pertaining to the award of scholarships.

NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS.

  • One scholarship for every complete unit of one thousand candidates appearing in the examination subject to a maximum of one hundred scholarships on the result of Matriculation examination and fifty scholarships on the result of Senior Secondary Certificate(Ten Plus Two ) examination will be awarded by the Board every year.
  • If two or more candidates having the same aggregate are eligible for the last scholarship , the younger/youngest in age amongst them shall be ranked higher in merit . If their age is also the same, all shall be entitled to the scholarships and the number of scholarships shall be increased accordingly.
  • One scholarship for every complete unit of one thousand candidates appearing in the examination subject to a maximum of one hundred scholarship on the result of Middle Standard Examination will be awarded by the Board every year.

VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIPS.

  • The value of each scholarship on the basis of result of Matriculation examination shall be Rs.100/- per month or as revised by the Board from time to time.
  • The value of each scholarship on the basis of result of Senior Secondary Certificate(Ten Plus Two) examination shall be Rs.100/- per month or as revised by the Board from time to time.
  • The value of each scholarship on the basis of result of Middle Standard Examination shall be Rs.100/- per month or as revised by the Board from time to time.

TENURE.

  • Scholarship awarded on the basis of result of Matriculation examination will be tenable for two years.
  • Scholarship awarded on the basis of result of Senior Secondary Certificate(Ten Plus Two) examination shall be tenable for three years.
  • Scholarship awarded on the basis of result of Middle Standard Examination shall be tenable for two years.

In case the candidate of +2 class takes admission in Medical or Engineering such as Technical Education Courses he will be awarded scholarship @ Rs. 200/- per month instead of Rs. 100/- per month. The Scholarship shall be tenable for the full duration of the course, provided he fulfils the conditions pertaining to award of scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY.

A candidate shall be eligible for the scholarship provided he

  1. is placed in the First Division on the result of Board examination.
  2. joins some recognised school/college or other teaching institution in India for prosecuting further studies;
  3. maintains good conduct and satisfactory progress in studies in the institution and is so certified by the Head of the institution.
  4. continues to be on the rolls of the institution;
  5. is not in receipt of any other scholarship except merit-cum-means scholarship or a scholarship reserved for Backward classes/Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribes.

He will cease to receive scholarship if he fails in an examination during the course of studies.

NON-ACCEPTANCE.

  • If an awardee does not accept the scholarship , such scholarship will be offered to the next eligible candidate on the list, if he too, does not accept the scholarship the same will be offered to the next student in order of merit. The scholarship , however , shall not be offered any further thereafter.

INFORMATIOIN TO THE AWARDEE.

  • Each awardee shall be informed about his having been awarded a scholarship. If the awardee does not communicate to the Board in writing his acceptance of the scholarship within two weeks of the receipt of notice by registered post, he shall be liable to forfeit his scholarship which may then be offered to the next eligible candidate.

MODE OF PAYMENT.

  • The payment of scholarship will be made to the awardee on submission of a bill on the prescribed proforma duly signed by the awardee and countersigned by the Head of the institution.

LATE DECLARATION OF RESULT.

  • If the result of a candidate is declared after the list of the awardees has been finalised, no eligible candidate will be ignored even if the number of scholarships fixed by the Board has to be exceeded.

PRC Pharmacy Board Exam Results January 2009

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has released the results of the Pharmacy Board Exam January 2009.

The members of the Board of Pharmacy who gave the licensure examination are Ms. Catalina C. Sanchez, Chairman; Mr. Reynaldo Maxlito H. Umali and Ms. Jennifer M. Flores, Members.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on Thursday, February 5, 2009 but not later than February 18, 2009. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 1 piece 1″ x 1″ picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short plastic envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2009-2012. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.


584 out of 1,042 or 56.05% passed the exam given by the Board of Pharmacy in the cities of Manila, Baguio and Cebu.


The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 1PM at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the J. N. TATA ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIPS for the academic year 2009 -2010 for higher studies abroad in all disciplines and subjects. Eligibility

Applicants who are:
I) Indian nationals; and
II) (a) graduates of a recognised Indian university with a consistently good academic record; or
(b) students in the final year of the degree course; or

Candidates with Bachelor Degree in Biology (3 Years duration) will have to spend 3 years in M.Sc. programme.


3. M.Tech (Biotechnology) Programme

M.Tech (Biotechnology) Programme at (1) Anna University, Chennai; (2) Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala; & (3) West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata

Eligibility: Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in any one: B.Tech/B.E. in Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B. Pharma, Chemical Technology, OR M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics. (Also B.Tech/B.E in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering and M.Sc. in Chemistry & Physics in case of Anna University; M.Sc in Marine Biotechnology, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, Environmental Biotechnology in case of Cochin University of Science and Technology and M.Sc. in Bioengineering in case of West Bengal University of Technology).

IMPORTANT NOTE: (for candidates of all categories) Only those candidates who have passed the qualifying examinations in 2007 or thereafter (including those who are appearing in 2009) are eligible to apply. In other words, those who have passed the qualifying examination PRIOR TO 2007 are not eligible to apply for taking admission to any of the programme i.e., (1) M.Sc. (Biotechnology); (2) M.Sc.Agri./M.V.Sc(Biotechnology) and (3) M.Tech (Biotechnology).



Reservation/Concession :

a) Reservation: 15%, 7½% and 3% of seats shall be reserved for SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) (PH) candidates respectively. All the SC/ST and PH candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of their percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination. OBC reservation, wherever applicable, will be implemented as per the policy of each participating University.

b) Concession for Kashmiri Migrants: 10% marks will be added to the overall marks scored by a Kashmiri Migrant candidate in the entrance examination. After adding 10% marks, in case he/she is covered in the cut-off point in the merit list, he/she will be offered admission strictly in accordance with his/her inter-se merit alongwith other candidates subject to his/her meeting the minimum prescribed eligibility requirements and also subject to his/her producing valid registration documents issued by the notified authorities certifying the candidate's Kashmiri Migrant status.

Tuition Fee/ Scholarship:

Fee shall be charged from the admitted candidates as per the fee structure of the concerned University. Candidates selected for admission to those of the participating Universities, which are supported by the Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India), are generally eligible for scholarship at the rates prescribed by the Dept. of Biotechnology.

Candidates may please note that the M.Sc. Biotechnology programme being offered at Punjabi University, Patiala and Thapar University, Patiala, is currently not being financially supported by the Department of Biotechnology. Therefore, the award of scholarships, if any, shall be governed by the rules prevailing in these Universities. Students admitted to Gulbarga University will not get any scholarship.

Sets of Application Form and Prospectus can be obtained personally on cash payment of Rs.200/- per set from any of the participating University as shown above.


By Post: Those willing to get the Application Form by post should send their request only to the Deputy Registrar (Admissions), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067, alongwith a Bank Draft (valid for six months) of Rs.260/-(for one set of Application Form and Prospectus). The Bank Draft should be drawn in favour of "Jawaharlal Nehru University" payable at New Delhi. The request should accompany a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size of 28x20 cms. indicating clearly on the top of the self addressed envelope the programme for which Application Form is required, i.e., "M.Sc. Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU) has been established by an Act(No.25 0f 2004) of Legislature passed by the Chhattisgarh State Govt. Assembly, wide notification No.639/21-A/Prarupan/2004 date 21st Jan 2005 and published in the State Govt. gazette 24th January, 2005. The University incorporates the purpose of ensuring systematic, efficient and qualitative education in engineering and technological subjects including Architecture and Pharmacy at Research, Postgraduate, Degree and Diploma level. The foundation stone of the University was laid down by Hon'ble Dr. Manmohan Sigh, the Prime Minister, Govt. of India on April 30th 2005.

About IELTS
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) tests the complete range of English language skills, which students will commonly encounter when studying or training in English. Many professional organizations including the New Zealand Immigration Service, the Australian Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, the Australian Medical Council, the UK General Medical Council and the UK Ministry of Defense accept IELTS as also most Australian, British, Canadian and New Zealand academic institutions. American academic institutions are increasingly accepting IELTS for admissions purposes.

Who conducts the test?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) superseded the English Language Testing System (ELTS) in 1990. IELTS is jointly managed by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP Education Australia: IELTS Australia. The IELTS test is conducted by the following educational bodies in partnership:

University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL) is an internationally recognised body in the provision of academic and vocational examinations. In the field of English language alone, Cambridge ESOL examines more than one million candidates each year.

British Council has wide experience and knowledge of test administration. With a network of examinations offices in over 100 countries, British Council administers over 500,000 examinations overseas on behalf of British examining boards.

3. IDP Educational Body, Australia (it's subsidiary is IELTS Australia Pvt.
Ltd.).
IDP Education Australia is Australia's international education organisation. It undertakes a broad range of activities from student advisory services and educational publications to project consultancy and English language teaching and testing.

Dibrugarh University, the easternmost University of India was set up in 1965 under the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965 enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. It is a teaching-cum-affiliating University with limited residential facilities. The University is situated at Rajabheta at a distance of about five kilometers to the south of the premier town of the Dibrugarh in the eastern part of Assam as well as India. Dibrugarh, a commercially and industrially advanced town in the entire north-eastern region also enjoys a unique place in the fields of Art, Literature and Culture. The district of Dibrugarh is well known for its vast treasure of minerals (including oil and natural gas and coal), a flora and fauna and largest concentration of tea plantations. The diverse tribes with their distinct dialects, customs, traditions and culture form a polychromatic ethnic mosaic which makes this area a veritable paradise for the study of Anthropology and Sociology, beside Art and Culture.

The Dibrugarh University Campus is well linked by roads, rails, and air and water ways. The National Highway No. 37 passes through the University Campus.

The territorial jurisdiction of Dibrugarh University covers seven districts of Upper Assam, Viz., Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sibsagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Dhemaji and Lakhimpur.

The University Campus extends over an area of more than 500 acres of which 60 acres are still covered under tea plantation.

The University is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an institutional score of 71% (B grade).

Dibrugarh University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). The Degrees conferred by this University are recognised by all India and abroad on reciprocal basis.

The following scholarships/stipends are awarded to the eligible students of the

Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate Course.


1. National Merit Scholarship for the students of M.A., M.Sc., M.Com. (Finance/Marketing), M.Tech. Courses (Eligibility: Minimum 60% marks in Degree Examination).


2. State Merit Scholarship (Awarded by the Government of Assam).


3. OBC, MOBC, SC, SC, ST Scholarships (Awarded by the Government of Assam).


4. P.G. Departmental Scholarship @ Rs. 150/- p.m. to 1 student securing highet marks in the First and Second Semestar Examinations of each Department (combined) for M.A., M.Sc. and M.Com. Course.


5. Financial assistance as loan/aid is also availabel to the needy poor students from the students' Aid Found.


6. The Research Scholars may enjoy fellowship under the UGC/CSIR scheme and Dibrugarh University Research Scholarship scheme.


7. Endowment Scholarships/Awards:


(i) Binandi Medhi Memorial Award to the Best Graduate in Science (B.Sc.) of Dibrugarh University.
(ii) Loknath Dutta Memorial Award to the Best Graduate in Arts (B.A.) of Dibrugarh University.
(iii) Phoonoo Barooah Memorial Award of the student who secures 1st position in Ammamese Major in the TDC Final Examination of Dibrugarh University.
(iv) Siris Chandra Barooah Memorial Award to the Best Graduate in Commerce (B.Com) of Dibrugarh University.
(v) Dr. Michael S. Chandra Endowment Award to the best Medical Graduate (MBBS) of Dibrugarh University, who prosecute P.G. Course leading to M.D. in Medical at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh.
(vi) Annual Award in the memory of late Swapnalika Bhattacharyya to the student securing highest marks in the First and Second Semester examinations (combined) in the MA/M.sc Course in Statistics.
Note: Award of Scholarship and financial assistance is regulated by the rules of the University. The award of the scholarships is subject to the availability of the scheme.

BITSAT 2008 Cutoffs | Cutoff BITSAT | BITSAT | Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences Admission Test

Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences Admission Test was conducted on 9th May, 2008 this year for the students who aspire to do Engineering and other Science courses from various branches of BITS. The online objective test is conducted by BITS for which students should report at their respective centers half an hour before the prescribed time. Mobile phones are not allowed inside the examination hall.

Examination Pattern:

1. All the questions in the examination will be of Multiple Choice Type (MCQ)
2. The duration of the test will be 3 hours.
3. Their will be Negative marking scheme followed in the checking of the test.
4. Every correct answer will be awarded 3 marks and every wrong answer will deduct 1 mark from the total.
5. Their will be total of four sections in the test, viz.:

* Physics – 40 questions
* Chemistry – 40 questions
* English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning – 40 questions
* Mathematics / Biology – 40 questions
