The foundation of Dr B. R. Ambedkar University (originally known as Agra University), was laid on the 1st of July, 1927, as a result of hectic efforts of a band of enthusiastic educationists like, Rev. Canon A.W. Davis, Munshi Narain Prasad Asthana, Dr L.P. Mathur, Lala Dewan Chand, Rai Bahadur Anand Swaroop and Dr Brajendra Swaroop,.
Original jurisdiction of University extended over United Provinces of Agra, Central India and Rajputana with 14 affiliated colleges and 2530 students of which, 1475 students belonged to United Provinces. Initially there were only four faculties in the University viz. Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Law. Faculties of Medicine (1936), Agriculture (1938), Home Science (1980), Basic Sciences (1981), Fine Arts (1982) and Management (1994) were added subsequently.

Established as an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 1989. NIOS mainly caters to the educational needs of the out of school children in general and those belonging to school drop-outs and socially and economical backward section of the learner population. It started with Academic courses at Secondary at Senior Secondary levels. However, the concept of open schooling has changed considerably in the last few years. The system is becoming more sensitive to the occupational and life related needs of learners.Today the focus of the National Institute of Open Schooling covers right from the elementary education to courses at the predegree level, both academic and vocantional. NIOS has shown a steady growth in student enrolment, number of courses and study centres.
It has developed into the largest open School in the world with 1427 Thousands student on its roll. It attempts to reach out of physically, mentally, socially and geographically disadvantaged groups through suitable learning material and delivery mechanism.

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test - TANCET - is conducted each year by TNSF for the students who aspire to do M.Tech, MBA, MCA, ME as their master degree course.
Important dates of TANCET
1. 17-03-09 – availability of forms.
2. 04-04-09 – deadline for submission of application forms.
3. 17-05-09 – MBA entrance examination from 10:00am to 12:00noon.
4. 17-05-09 – MCA entrance examination from 02:30pm to 04:30pm.

The University of Gorakhpur is a teaching and residential-cum-affiliating University. It is situated at a distance of about 2 kilometers form the downtown to the east and almost walking distance from railway station to the south. Although the idea of residential University at Gorakhpur was first mooted by Dr. C.J. Chako, the then Principal of St. Andrews College, then under Agra University, who initiated post-graduate and undergraduate science teaching in his college, the idea got crystallized and took concrete shape by the untiring efforts of Late Pt. S.N.M. Tripathi.

All students who would like to apply for any of the Advanced Postgraduate Programs would have to register and apply online (www.isquareit.ac.in).
Before applying online they are requested to make a demand draft of Rs. 1500/- (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred only) drawn in favour of International Institute of Information Technology payable at Pune towards a non-refundable registration fee. Students can then send the DD along with the final printed version of the online application, passport size photograph (2 nos), photocopies of all the mark sheets, degree certificates, experience certificate (if applicable) and a handwritten Statement of Purpose (A personal statement that explains in 200-250 words why you would like to join this program at I2IT) to:
