PGIMER 2009 Entrance exam for MD, MS courses and Ph. D. Courses Admissions pgimer.nic.in

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research conducts an Entrance exam for the students who aspire to take admission in MD, MS courses and Ph. D. programme. The merit obtained through the entrance exam is applicable for admission in the colleges of Chandigarh.


Available courses:

  • Post-Doctoral (DM/M.Ch)
  • Postgraduate (MD/MS)

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. The candidate should have completed their MBBS from a recognized University.
  2. The candidate should have not made more than one attempt during the MBBS course.
  3. The candidates must have completed their one year internship after the course.
  4. The candidates who are due to finish their internship this year are also eligible to apply.
  5. The rest conditions vary with the courses, and are detailed as:
  • For all DM courses except for DM(ClinicalPharmacology) Course:
  1. The candidate should have got a degree in MD Medicine or Pediatrics recognized by the Medical Council of India.
  2. The candidate should be registered with the Central/ State Medical Registration Council.
  • For DM (Clinical Pharmacology) Course:
  1. The candidate should have got a degree in MD Pharmacology recognized by the Medical Council of India.
  • For M.Ch. Courses:
  1. The candidate should have got a degree in MS General Surgery recognized by the Medical Council of India.
  • For M.Ch. (Plastic Surgery) Course:
  1. The candidate should possess MS degree in General Surgery / M.S. (ENT) / M.S. (Ortho.) recognized by Medical Council of India.
  2. The candidate should be registered with the Central/ State Medical Registration Council.

Important Dates:

  • Commencement of Exam (MD/MS) : 2nd week of Jun, 2009
  • Commencement of Exam (DM/M.Ch) : 3rd week of Jun, 2009

Examination Pattern:

  • The question in the exam will be of Multiple Choice Type (MCQ)
  • Each question would have 5 answers with only one correct answer.
  • Their will be total of 250 questions.
  • The test will be of 100 marks.
  • Negative marking scheme will be followed in the checking.
  • The duration of the test is 3 hours.
