The University of South Australia offers the following international scholarships:
1 - International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) – closing date 31 August
2 - UniSA President’s Scholarships (UPS) – closing date 31 May and 31 August
Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) are funded by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR) and awarded on the basis of academic merit and research potential to international candidates.
University wide scholarships for international research degree applicants
An IPRS will cover your tuition fees and your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), and provide a stipend (living allowance), but will not pay for travel expenses. A thesis allowance is funded to cover the cost of printing and binding the thesis.
Eligibility
Available to international higher degree by research (HDR) students, generally with a first-class Honours degree or equivalent. Candidates must be intending to enrol at UniSA full-time for either a Masters or PhD.

Value: $26,140 per annum for 3 years, with the possibility of one six-month extension (2008 stipend rate).

IPRS
Preference is given to students from Asia, Europe, North and Latin America and the Middle East.
Selection is a competitive process, based on academic merit.
Criteria and funding for IPRS Scholarships are attached to the HES Act 2004 as guidelines. UniSA is usually allocated funding for six IPRS each year. The full guidelines can be found at:

UPS applicants must be nominated by a Supervisor within one of the University’s Divisions, Institutes or Research Centres.

Area of research strength
Only outstanding applicants will be considered, namely:
English language ability, equivalent to IELTS Overall 6.5 (with a minimum of 6 in each of the Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking tests), at the time of application (from 2010 this will increase to 7.0 with sub-scores of 6.0 in the four tests)
Undergraduate scores of 35 or more (as measured by UniSA’s ranking process)

The University derives an Order of Merit list of outstanding applicants and IPRS are allocated to the highest applicants on this list. Offers will be made in writing to the successful applicants and applicants will be advised of the Conditions of Scholarship.
